I am a dedicated artist who dares to be different. I have an exciting range of extremes in my work from the mythological to the primitive to the ethereal to realistic representational with evocative, macabre and deviant thrown in for good measure.
My work shows sensual sensitivity and energy within my figurative studies of the female form where evocative colour choices and brushwork enhance its translucent and intriguing life energy. Scissors, dark charcoal, and nasty processes that incorporate lacquer thinner or fire reveal my dark side. I enjoy creating digital images with my photography and I use it to assist and record my work.
Rediscovering my inner artist came later in my life and as a result, my art reflects my maturity and independence with strong line and my choice of design elements. Born and raised an Islander, I feel a comfortable isolation that gives me the freedom to use my creativity in a highly experimental way. My art is personal and reflects my awareness of the world around me. I imbue layering of the real and the unreal abstracting what I feel with what I see. This layering empowers my work with a life of its own revealed only to those that look deep enough.
As an artist, I feel comfortable in numerous forms of expression from writing and photography to drawing, painting and digital imaging. My inner self, the creator mirrors my active mind; I choose my medium intuitively, leaving myself open to possibilities, often accepting things that cross my path as opportunities for success. My art expresses reflective self-discovery, growth, and self-empowerment as I gain greater insight into the world around me. When I paint, I use the colours I feel within my heart. My art moves me and I do not quit until I achieve self-satisfaction. I have developed a very critical eye and I am my biggest critic. My need to express myself is the motivational force that drives me to constantly research, experiment, and creatively invent.
